Our Stone Walls

Were masoned from sandstone chiseled from the bedrock of the surrounding mountains. Our roof is built on poplar timber that grew old in local terroir.

This respect for environment runs throughout a wine estate that was founded in the autumn of 1998 when the clouds over Stellenbosch mountain opened to reveal a waterfall cascading into the valley below.

What started as an abundance of citrus trees has become one of the most scenic wine estates in the Stellenbosch region reminiscent of the Gardens of Versailles.

The Waterford way

Is to be prosperous. To flow with nature’s cycles, seasons and chapters and achieve longevity by perpetuating what has worked before.

You’ll find the Waterford Way in the citrus, lavender and rosemary aromas that welcome you as you drive up to the gate.

You’ll find it in the gravel that connects you to the earth; the sky above the Mediterranean courtyard where you sip our wine.
