Waterford Estate Grenache Noir
This vineyard was planted in 2004 on soils reminiscent of the Spanish arid, rocky soils. These soils consist of mostly Sandstone and granite parent material, extremely difficult growing conditions but where the Grenache vineyard thrives. Very little fine soil, completely dominated by rocks. With the vineyard hitting maturity in 2013/2014 season, this noted through the vineyard producing much smaller bunches and berries giving a more concentrated and mature flavour. Thus making Waterfords maiden vintage in 2014. The wine is matured in 500L old oak vats as well as in porcelain jars for 16 months. An elegant savoury expresion of 100% Grenache Noir grown in the Stellenbosch region.
